FG approves establishment of police academy in Anambra

- Nigeria's federal government has approved the establishment of police college and police academy in Anambra state

- It is believed that siting the police academy in the area will expose youths of the state to the opportunity of being employed in the force

- Unemployment in the state will be reduced as a result of the police college and police academy according to a consultant familiar with the project

The establishment of police college and police academy in Anambra state has been approved by the federal government of Nigeria.

Architect Johnson Imah, consultant to the police service commission in Abuja disclosed this after inspecting the site for the proposed academy at Umuchukwu, Orumba south council area of the state.

Architect Imah who spoke to newsmen after the inspection said the idea of siting police academy in the area will expose youths of the state to the opportunity of being employed in the police force on graduation.

He argued that this will ultimately reduce employment in the part of the country.

Going further, he commended Professor Mmaduka, a professor of surgery and pain management based in the United States of America for his vision which led to the development.

Also, speaking after the inspection, Humphrey Nsofor, a former majority leader in the state House of Assembly applauded the move by Professor Mmaduka.

He also appreciated the federal government for giving approval to the project.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that some businessmen in the Ikeja area of Lagos state have reportedly claimed that operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) allegedly tortured and extorted money from them for what they knew nothing about.

The three men claimed that they were illegally detained for days during which they were brutalised.

According to the Punch, the businessmen, who had separate encounters with F-SARS operatives from the Lagos and Ogun commands, were going about their business when they were accosted by the policemen.
