Malam Musa Bello, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has directed all employees and appointees of the administration who have political ambition ahead of 2019 to officially resign their current appointment.
It was learnt that the notice came because of rush into partisan politics by political appointees and civil servants under the FCTA, including the federal capital Development Authority (FCDA).
Daily Trust reports that the minister’s directive was contained in a circular, dated Tuesday, August, 28 and addressed to all departments and agencies.

The circular which was signed by the FCT permanent secretary, Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, quoted the minister as directing political appointees and other employees in the FCT administration who wish to seek elective positions to formally resign from their current positions to enable them pursue their political ambitions.
The minister said in the circular said: “Those affected are expected to handover all government property in their custody to the permanent secretary, upon the submission of their letters of resignation.
“I wish to express the deep appreciation of the FCT administration to the effected officers and to wish them success in their future endeavours.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the House of Representatives amended the electoral act to change the order of 2019 general elections. This was coming up barely a month after the INEC released the timetable for the 2019 general elections.
The amendment was effected Tuesday, January 23, at the committee of the whole while considering the report of the House committee on electoral matters on the proposed amendment to the electoral act 2010.
With the latest amendment, the National Assembly election is to hold first, followed by gubernatorial and state assembly with the presidential election billed to be conducted last.
