Former Manchester United assistant manager Rui Faria leads the chase to land Aston Villa managerial job.

The 43-year-old becomes the new favourite to be names the Clarets new boss after Thierry Henry recently turned down the job.

According to the Mirror, former Chelsea and Aston Villa defender John Terry is expected to be appointed the assistant manager.

The publication reveals that Faria's agent Jorge Mendes has been advising Villa's new owners after they axed Steve Bruce.

Henry was almost taking the job before being approached the French League side Monaco.

Afetr Henry decided to ditched their offers, Villa's owners now look set to go for a Faria/Terry double-act as the pair know each other from Chelsea .

Faria was Jose Mourinho's long-term assistant before parting company with his Portuguese compatriot earlier this year.
