Buhari’s aide launches fresh attack on APC, calls party members come and chop people

The chairman of the presidential advisory committee against corruption, (PACAC), Itse Sagay, has continued his feud with the All Progressives Congress (APC) with an attack on the party’s national chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.

Sagay’s latest attack on the party was in reaction to a statement by the national publicity secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, where the party described the lawyer as an arrogant and a rogue elephant who has no respect for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The APC had said the only reason Sagay occupies the position he has today was because the ruling party won the presidential election.

But Sagay in his reply cast doubts on the party’s leadership under John Odigie-Oyegun and warned that the party’s national chairman would destroy the APC, Punch reports.

The senior lawyer said he was an accomplished man long before any appointment, insisting that he took the position because of his respect for Buhari and Osinbajo.

He said: “To start with, I am not a ‘come and chop’ person as they are. I did not come to ‘chop’; so they are not doing me a favour. They are the ones that come to ‘chop’.

“Secondly, my criticism of APC is not against President Buhari who I think is a man of great honour, integrity and whom I admire and who inspires me.

“I took this job because of Buhari and Osinbajo, who I admire greatly. The people I am referring to in my criticism are John Odigie-Oyegun and one Bolaji Abdullahi, who is (Senate President Bukola) Saraki’s Man Friday. They are dining with the devil who wants to destroy the party."

Sagay asked what that APC will be without Buhari, Osinbajo and Tinubu.

He said the policy of appeasement which the Oyegun-led executive was practicing will destroy the party.

Meanwhile, the APC national chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other bigwigs of the party are expected to attend the party’s mega rally in Abia state.

Comrade Benedict Godson, the state publicity secretary of the party, on Monday, September 25, told newsmen in Umuahia that the event would hold in the state capital in October.

Godson explain that the planned mega rally was to present new members of the party.

The new members include former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Kalu, Chidi Onyeukwu Ajaegbu, immediate past President Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dr. Sampson Uche Ogah, CEO Masters Energy and former Abia PDP governorship aspirant in 2015 election, Chief David Ogba Onuoha, MD of defunct Bourdex telecommunication and Abia North Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, MD of defunct Hallmark Bank and brother to former senate president (Adolphus Wabara), Mark Wabara.
