Europa League: Walcott, Wilshere combine as Arsenal destroy BATE

- Theo Walcott scored twice in the early stages for Arsene Wenger's side

- Olivier Giroud scored his 100th goal for the Gunners via the penalty spot

- Jack Wilshere put in a masterclass performance in the midfield

Two goals from Theo Walcott and a masterclass midfield performance from Jack Wilshere helped Arsenal to a 4 - 2 win at BATE Borisov in their Europa League game.

The Gunners ran riot in the early stages and created multiple chances and that told as Arsene Wenger's side scored three goals in 25 minutes.

Theo Walcott scored the opening two goals in the ninth and 22nd minute. The first coming from a cross from Wilshere who has played a one-two with Olivier Giroud to free himself in the box.

The second came when an absolutely terrible attempted clearance from Scherbitski rolled straight into the feet of Walcott, who quickly controlled the ball before side-footing a strike into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

Rob Holding made it 3 - 0 with a simple tap in after Mertesacker found him with a header in the box from a corner.

The Belarusians pulled one back through Ivanic who rose above Mohammed ELneny to head past David Ospina in goal.

Giroud would make it four with his 100th goal for the club when he converted a spot-kick after Reiss Nelson was pulled down in the box.

In the 69th minute, Gordeychuk found space behind Rob Holding to make it 4 - 2 on the night.

That was how it stayed as the Gunners secured their second win of the group stage.
