Auchi poly students protest as acting rector allegedly stopped SUG election

- Students of Auchi polytechnic have protested the stoppage of their SUG election

- The acting rector of the institution was said to have refused the students to exercise their franchises

There was a pandemonium at the Auchi polytechnic; Auchi in Edo state on Monday, October, 9 over an alleged refusal of the institution’s acting rector to allow the students to vote to elect their representatives at the students’ union government election.

In a statement sent to NAIJ.com, a Facebook user, Ronuwe Agnes, said that the institution was under commotion when the acting rector refused the students to exercise their franchise.

He said: “Auchi Polytechnic is in a state of topsy-turvy. The rector has refused the students to carry out their franchise. They don't want the students to vote for their SUG candidates.

“Please, share till it gets to d federal government. The acting rector has refused to allow the students vote in their candidates for the SUG election this year, saying he wants to appoint a candidate for us and the students refused to let it happen.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that some students of federal polytechnic Auchi in Edo state went on rampage following the policy of “no school fees, no exam” adopted by the institution’s management.
