Nigerian Army undergoes major shake-up of senior officers; Kaduna gets new GOC

- The Nigerian army has undergone a major shake-up which has seen several senior officers getting new postings

- Major-General M. Mohammed has now been appointed as the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna state

- The shake-up mostly affected several Brigadier Generals, and the development was made public via a posting signed by the secretary of the Army

In a new shake-up, the Nigerian army has appointed Major-General M. Mohammed as the new General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Nigerian army, Kaduna state, Daily Sun reports.

Mohammed takes over from Major-General A. Oyebade, who has now been appointed as Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

NAIJ.com gathers that Mohammed was at the Department of Army Standards and Evaluation (DASE), Abuja, before his recent appointment.

The new development was made public in a posting signed by Major-General I. O. Rabiu, the secretary of the Army on Sunday, October 8.

The shake-up also affected other officers mostly in the ranks of Brigadier-Generals.

They include Brig. Gen. K. N. Garba, Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade; Brig. Gen. U. S. Mohammed, Commander, Headquarters 3 Brigade; Brig. Gen. A. Bande, Commander, 6 Division Garrison; Brig. Gen. O. T. Akinjobi, Head, Operation Monitoring Team, office of the Chief Of Army Staff.

Also, Brig. Gen. J. C. Egbudom, has been appointed Acting Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Mechanical Engineering (NASME).

However, Brig. Gen. B. E. Etuk, remains as Chief Of Staff to Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff.

In a related development, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigerian army posted-in 147 officers into Operation LAFIYA DOLE, some divisions, formations and training schools, in what it described as a bid to re-strategise.

The director of Army Public Relations, Sani Kukasheka Usman, explained why the decision was taken, and listed those affected.
