Monkeypox victim kills himself at quarantine centre

One of the victims of the viral disease, monkeypox has killed himself.

The Punch reports that this was confirmed on Monday, October 16 by the Bayelsa state government.

According to the report, the unnamed victim took his own life at an isolation centre at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

The victim who was at the quarantine centre where he was under observation and treatment killed himself although details have not been provided yet.

NAIJ.com had reported that Professor Isaac Adewole, the minister of health confirmed three cases of monkeypox virus from the 13 suspected cases reported from Bayelsa state in September.

Professor Adewole in Abuja also confirmed that four results from the 43 suspected cases reported from other states including Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Ekiti states were negative, Channels Television reports.
