- Aisha Buhari has revealed why she insisted on not seeking medical attention in London

- She said she chose the Aso Rock Clinic because a particular amount is being allocated to the hospital yearly

- She however lamented the inadequate facilities at the hospital

Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, revealed she recently fell sick and against all advice, refused to go to London to receive treatment.

Mrs Buhari, while speaking at the stakeholders meeting on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn Child, Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) said that she was recently forced to visit a hospital owned by foreigners when she fell sick.

Recall that her husband, President Buhari, spent about three months in London receiving medical attention after he left Nigeria on May 7.

Mrs Buhari, however said when she fell sick, she was advised to go to London for medical attention, but she declined, opting to use the Aso Rock Clinic, unfortunately the necessary equipment were lacking at the clinic designated for the first family.

She said: “Few weeks ago I was sick as well, they advised me to take the first flight to London, I refused to go. I said I must be treated in Nigeria because there is a budget for an assigned clinic to take care of us.

“If the budget is N100 million, we need to know how it is spent. Along the line, I insisted they call Aso Clinic to find out if the X-ray machine was working, they said it was not working.

“I had to go to a hospital that was established by foreigners in and out 100 percent. What does that mean?"

Meanwhile, Mrs Buhari is not the only member of the first family to have criticised the Aso Rock Clinic.

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that Zahra Buhari took to her Instagram page to criticise the Jalal Arabi, permanent secretary of the State House clinic for his inability to provide even Paracetamol tablets to the Aso Rock Clinic despite a budget of N3 billion for the provision of drug to the hospital.

The Aso Rock Clinic management, while reacting to Zahra's criticism, said it was short of funds for major projects and purchases and would demand the commercialisation of the clinic’s operations for efficiency.
