APGA raises alarm, reveals what will happen if Governor Obiano loses in Anambra guber election

The All Progressives Grand Alliance says it is not comfortable with the alleged malfunctioning of several card readers used for governorship election in Anambra by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday, November 18.

APGA’s national chairman, Dr Victor Oye, made the observation while the election was ongoing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Oye said although the card readers captured his fingerprint at his polling unit at Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area, he was not happy with the reports he got from most of the party’s agents across the state.

He said: “INEC had given the impression that they have tested and confirmed more than 6,000 card readers for November 18 election.

“But what happened on the functionality of the card readers was a far cry from what INEC told the public.”

Oye expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters as well as the presence and conduct of security operatives during the election.

He also expressed optimism that his party would emerge victorious at the end of the election.

If his party does not win, he said APGA would contest the result at the tribunal.

“We hope to win this governorship election because majority of the parties appeared to have backed out and now in support of Governor Willie Obiano’s re-election bid.

"If, at the end of the election, INEC fails to return Obiano as the winner, APGA will contest the outcome of the exercise at the election tribunal,” Oye said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that a former national chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, said the massive turnout of voters in the Anambra governorship election showed that the people truly defied the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Umeh, who is the head of the Willie Obiano re-election committee, explained that there was no way the people could have obeyed the agitating group.
