An application by a former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, seeking to be joined as a defendant in an alleged N450m fraud case in Nigeria has been rejected by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

In the judgment which was delivered on Wednesday, November 1, the court turned down all of Diezani’s prayers, including an order mandating the attorney general of the federation to facilitate her return from the UK, where is currently being investigated for alleged fraud by the metropolitan police, the Punch reports.
The trial judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, described Diezani’s application as bizarre and a misuse of court processes, The Punch reports.
He said he would not allow himself to be used to frustrate Diezani’s imminent trial in the United Kingdom, where is currently under investigation and on bail.

NAIJ.com had earlier reported that the application Diezani Alison-Madueke, seeking to return to Nigeria to face trial was rejected by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Nation reports that a senior lawyer, Dele Bolgore, with whom she was charged, also urged the court not to grant it.
