Kano emir Sanusi’s hammer falls on 2 traditional rulers for alleged extortion

- Two traditional rulers in Kano have been sacked by Emir Sanusi for alleged extortion

- Emir Sanusi took the step reportedly after receiving a report on the case against them

- He also warned other traditional rulers in the state

For allegedly engaging in extortion, the traditional of Hungu, Ibrahim Shehu, and the ward head of Zangwan, Galal Nadabo Adamu, have been dethroned by the emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

The Nigerian Tribune reports that the emir was not happy after receiving an investigation report on the alleged offence from the district head of Albasu, Alhaji Bashir Albasu, Katikan Kano, at his palace.

While taking the decision, he reportedly warned traditional title holders in the state to desist from any act capable of painting the Kano Emirate Council and the tradition of the state in negative image.

According to the report, the outcome of the investigation showed that the two traditional title holders were allegedly involved in a case involving a police inspector, Umaru Abubakar, over more than N50,000 collected from the mother of an accused, Hauwa Sule, in Albasu Local Government Area of the state.

The scheme is called ‘Jaiz Takaful Insurance’, and was launched by the monarch in Kano state on Monday, October 30.
