- Many are not happy with the EFCC's failure to hunt down the embattled ex-pension boss Abdulrasheed Maina more than a week after he was fired by President Buhari.
- The commission has appealed to Nigerians to help it arrest Maina who has already been declared a “wanted man”
- According to the anti-graft agency, it is not relenting in its efforts to get him
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has called on Nigerians to help it arrest the embattled former chairman of the presidential task force team on pension reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.
In an appeal on Thursday, November 2, during a phone interview with Cahnnels TV, spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, said the anti-graft agency had not relented in its quest to arrest Maina.
He gave the assurance that the commission was committed to getting Maina and it needed the help of Nigerians to achieve that goal.

“We are on his trail; we are not relenting. We have opened up channels of communication and we have linked up with several law enforcement agencies, both internally and outside the country, to ensure that we get him. Wherever he is, he knows that he is a wanted man
“I will also use this opportunity to appeal to Nigerians; anywhere, anybody that sees him has a responsibility as a citizen of this country to alert law enforcement.
“You can report to the nearest police station or any EFCC office that is closest to you. Maina is wanted and we are not relenting in our efforts to get him,” Uwujaren said.
Maina had been declared wanted by the commission in 2015 over alleged embezzlement of N2 billion pension funds.
Despite this, he returned to the country quietly and got reinstated into the civil service; causing an uproar.

Following the outcry, he was dismissed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Earlier, NAIJ.com reported that Maina accused the seventh Senate which was led by Senator David Mark of aiding and abetting pension thieves across the country.
In a letter addressed to Senate president, Bukola Saraki, he said his case was that of corruption fighting back as the Senate favoured pension thieves.
He added that that pension funds amounting to more than N3 trillion were trapped in 97 pension offices before he fled the country.
