There are indication that a prominent Abia chieftain and Ngwa land leader, Allen Nwachukwu, is set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
ABN news reports that Chief Nwachukwu's decision to leave the opposition party could be attributed to a recent defection by his son, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu to the APC.

Ugochukwu, NAIJ.com gathered, was the former chairman of Osisioma Ngwa local government area in Abia state.
Sources at the APC secretariat in Umuahia, Abia state capital said Ugochukwu visited the party's office where he met with some prominent members of the party.

Ugochukwu was said to have met with Donatus Nwamkpa the APC chairman in Abia state.

He also informed Nwamkpa of his decision to join the APC.
"Ugochukwu Allen Nwachukwu who was a former transition committee chairman of Osisioma Ngwa local government area visited our party office here in Umuahia.
He met with our State chairman where he informed him of his entry to our party APC. With the entry of Ugochukwu Allen Nwachukwu to APC, His father, Chief Allen Nwachukwu who is a leader in Ngwa land and PDP will soon leave PDP to APC," the source said.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that some members of the PDP decamp to the ruling APC ahead of the anticipated 2019 general elections.
The members numbering up to 1,000 were said have defected in Niger state.
However, unperturbed by the defection, PDP chieftains in the state said the party will surely bounce back sooner than expected.
