Stop playing politics with our amnesty programme - Militants tell Ondo government

- A militant group, United Sea Wolf Avenger, declared that politicians in Ondo state have illegally seized federal government’s amnesty programme in the state

- The group alleged that the state government is playing politics with the amnesty programme

- It expressed regret that its members of over 400 from five camps in the state have been neglected

Militant group in Ondo state, United Sea Wolf Avenger, said politicians in the state have hijacked the federal government’s amnesty programme in the state by allocating the slots to their children, friends and political allies.

News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports that the group made the allegation in a statement in Lagos state on Thursday, November 9, signed by its leader, General Deji Ehinmowo, Secretary, General Akinfemi Raymond, and adviser, general Ogbaro Ariyo.

The state government, had on October 23, announced that the federal government would on November 9 incorporate ex-militants in the riverine area of the state who are willing to submit their arms for the programme.

The militant group expressed regret that its members of over 400 from five camps in the state were neglected and not incorporated into the programme.

The group said: “We humbly want to alert Nigerians and the federal government that politicians in Ondo state are about to compromise the standard and integrity that the Nigerian security personnel has built over the years by hijacking the second phase of the amnesty programme.

“It is with strong belief that the present government in the state is playing politics with the Amnesty programme without involving us in the process.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Nigerian navy, central naval command launched “Operation Octopus Grip” phase two with eleven gunboats in Delta state.

The navy appealed to coastal communities to cooperate with it to rid the Niger Delta of crime.
