There was tension in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital city on Wednesday, November 1, after a group of kidnappers allegedly clashed with some police officers at Tank Junction, Rumuokwurusi.
The kidnappers, NAIJ.com gathered, intercepted a police convoy escorting some foreigners in the area.

Sources who were in the area said the security operatives and the kidnappers engaged in a gun battle killing one police officer.
"They exchanged gun fire and in the process a policeman was killed, three white men were kidnapped, a little child and his father who sell recharge cards and phone accessories were killed right in their shop by stray bullet," the source said.

It was also gathered that some passersby were injured during the incident.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that some kidnappers were arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police Force along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

The kidnappers were paraded at the Jere police station along the expressway.
The police while parading the suspected kidnappers said various weapons including many riffles and gun model were confiscated from them.
