The wait is almost over as the draws for the 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place today today, December 1 at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia.
All 32 qualified teams including the Super Eagles will know their fate today, while praying for a favourable draws that will see them stand a strong chance of making it through to the knockout stages.
Like in previous editions, the 32 qualified nations will be drawn from four pots of eight (numbered one to four) into eight groups of four (lettered A to H) with each group consisting one team from each of the four pots.
In previous competitions only pot one was determined by FIFA ranking and the rest were ordered by the confederation of the competing teams.
However, in today's draw, all four pots are now to be determined by their score in the October edition of FIFA’s rankings.

The one exception to this is Russia who, as hosts, are drawn from pot one despite being ranked 65th in the world.
As in previous editions, no more than one team from each confederation may be drawn into the same group, with the exception of UEFA from which there can be a maximum of two in the same group.
Here are four possible groups The Super Eagles of Nigeria might find themselves in:
Permutation 1: The Super Eagles will be in Group B, where they will face Portugal from port 1, Colombia from port 2 and Costa Rica from port 3. An easy group we think.
Permutation 2: Another easy group we think too, as we have Belgium from port 1, Columbia from port 2 and Asian side Iran from port 3. We think the Eagles can survive this.

Permutation 3: We hope to avoid such group as this can easily pass as the group of death, as this group features Brazil from port 1, Spain from port 2 and Sweeden from port 3. We are pretty sure both Spain and Brazil would also prefer to avoid such group.
Permutation 4: A tough group, but still better than the persumed 'group of death', as this group features France from port 1, Mexico from port 2 and Iran from port 3.
