Senate President Bukola Saraki has ordered the Senate committee on petroleum downstream to suspend recess and meet to find a solution to the fuel scarcity in the country.
The senate president directed the committee, chaired by Kabiru Marafa, to come up with implementable solutions to address the lingering fuel scarcity in the nation.
Arising from this directive, the committee will meet the minister of state of petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, and the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru.

The meeting is expected to be televised live on national TV.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that major oil marketers have speculated that the current fuel scarcity crisis will end in a few days if the NNPC sustains its current level of supply.

The Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) confirmed that its members, including Total Nigeria Plc, 11 Plc (formerly Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc), Oando Plc, Conoil Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc and Forte Oil Plc, were receiving the product from the NNPC.
Mr. Obafemi Olawore who is the executive director of MOMAN spoke on Wednesday, December 27 saying they have been receiving the product from NNPC and suppling it to consumers.
