BREAKING: WAEC announces commencement of two series of WASSCE examination for private candidates, as from 2018

- The West African Examination Council has announced that as from 2018, it would be conducting two series of WASSCE examination for private candidates

- The examination body made the announcement on its twitter handle on Thursday, December 28

- It also said registration is ongoing for the examination

The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has announced that it would be conducting two series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidate, as from 2018.

NAIJ.com gathered that the 1st series will be conducted between January and Februrary, while the 2nd series will be conducted between August and October every year.

The examination body disclosed on its twitter handle @waecnigeria that registration is ongoing.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the sum of over N80 million was returned to parents by the Katsina state government, to cover the fees they paid for their wards for the 2017 Senior Secondary School WAEC and NECO examinations.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari’s director-general, media and publicity, Malam Ibrahim Muazzam, in a press statement, on Tuesday, December 19, noted that the refund was only for candidates who obtained at least five credits and above at the examinations.
