Chelsea and Belgian football star Eden Hazard has explained that Barcelona and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is the best player in the world.

Hazard made this statement without him considering the fact that Real Madrid and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo was recently named world's best player in Paris.

The 26-year-old winger is expected to face Lionel Messi next year as Chelsea and Barcelona will go head to head in the Champions League round of 16.

Speaking to Chelsea TV, Hazard said: "Of course, when you are playing football you want to play against the best.

"The best team, the best players in the world. Messi is the best player in the world."

Ronaldo beat Messi to the 2017 Ballon d'Or which is the Best prize this year following a victorious season for Los Blancos.

But Messi is the La Liga top scorer with 15 goals and six assists this term as Barcelona remain unbeaten this season.

These two players have been dominating the world football for the past 10 years, and both of them have now won five FIFA Ballon d'Or each.
