Uche Secondus was elected chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party during the party's convention on Saturday, December 9.
Secodus emerged chairman in an election marred with controversies and allegations of favoritism.

1. Uche Secondus who emerged as the Peoples Democratic (PDP) chairman on Saturday, December 9 was born March 22 1955. He once as served as acting chairman of the party's national working committee from 2015 to 2016. He was also the second chairman of the Rivers State PDP, a position he held for two terms.
2.Secondus also had a stint as the as Rivers state youth leader of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the Second Republic and publicity secretary of the National Republican Convention(NRC) between 1993 and 1998
3. He was a two-term chairman of the Rivers PDP. In 2007, Secondus was the south south coordinator for the PDP national campaign council which organised the party's campaign in that year's election.
4. In 2008, at the PDP convention, he was promoted to national working committee secretary until 2012. 4. He was also the pioneer chairman of the governing board of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)
5. In 2013, he was elected Deputy National Chairman of the PDP. He also briefly served as acting National Chairman of the party, following the resignation of Adamu Muazu in 2015
