Angry Kogi youths attack soldier, beat him up for wooing married woman

- An unidentified soldier was beaten by angry youths in Gadumo community in Lokoja for making overtures to a married woman

- The woman was said to have reported the soldier to her husband when the soldier persisted after being turned down initially

- The solder was alleged to be fond of making amorous advances at village girls

Some angry youths in Gadumo community in Lokoja, Kogi state, attacked a yet-to-be-identified soldier for allegedly making overtures to a married woman in the community.

The incident happened on Tuesday, January 9, close to the Master Energy Filling Station in Gadumo, Punch reports.

NAIJ.com gathered that a witness said the soldier came from Lagos and was fond of making amorous advances at village girls.

According to the witness, the soldier made overtures to a married woman, who turned down his request, saying she was married, adding that when the soldier persisted, the woman reported to her husband.

He said: “The woman’s husband confronted him and an argument ensued. Angry youths in the area, upon getting wind of the incident, mobilised and fought the soldier. He was given serious beating, but was later rescued and taken away by his colleagues."

Williams Aya, the state police public relations officer, said the incident had not been reported to the command.

According to him, the divisional police officer in charge of C Division visited the community and was told that the soldier had been taken away by the army.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had previously reported that a yet-to-be identified soldier was beaten to a pulp by an angry mob in Warri, Delta state for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.

It was reported that trouble started when a young lady raised the alarm at popular Robson G Shopping Plaza along Okumagba Avenue in Warri after recognising the soldier who had earlier reportedly robbed her of an iPhone at gunpoint.

The angry mob chased the unidentified soldier from the plaza to a nearby street where they proceeded to give him the beating of his life until he was rescued by a group of mobile policemen.
