Niger Delta group prays for Yusuf Buhari’s quick recovery

- PANDEF sympathises with Aisha Buhari over injuries her son, Yusuf, suffered in a bike accident

- Security forces keep vigil at the Cedar Crest Hospital where President Muhammadu Buhari’s son is undergoing treatment

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has expressed shock and disbelief over the bike accident that Yusuf Buhari was involved in.

PANDEF in a statement sympathised with the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, over the incident, and prayed for God to strengthen her and as well as grant Yusuf quick recovery, The Tribune reports.

The group said it received the news of the accident with utter shock and disbelief.

"The Leadership of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) received news of the near fatal motor bike accident involving Mr. Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, with utter shock and disbelief.

“Like all well-meaning Nigerians, PANDEF wishes to use this opportunity to sympathize with President Buhari and his entire family, including the First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari over the unfortunate incident.

“Similarly, on behalf of the good people of the Niger Delta region, PANDEF prays for the speedy recovery of Yusuf, and guidance and protection for the first family of our dear Nation, Nigeria. Whilst wishing them a glorious new year, 2018,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, a report by the Punch indicates that armed policemen and officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) are still keeping vigil at the Cedar Crest Hospital, Gudu District, Abuja, where President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf, has now spent six days in the facility.

According to the report, the policemen have been joined by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) as at Sunday, December 31, 2017.

As at 7pm, Islamic prayer which involved some of the security officials was being observed at the entrance of the hospital while there was no visiting top government official as of the time of filling this report.
