You can’t beat President Buhari in 2019 - Ex-PDP speaker tells opposition party

- A two-time speaker of the Katsina state House of Assembly, Ya’u Umar Gojo-Gojo, says the PDP is engaging in a futile effort against President Buhari in 2019

- Gojo-Gojo also believes the opposition party cannot take over Katsina state in the election year

- He says the quest by the PDP to reclaim the presidential and Katsina state’s governorship seats are misplaced hope

Ya’u Umar Gojo-Gojo, a former speaker of the Katsina state House of Assembly and the Katsina North senatorial district candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general election, has declared that the opposition party cannot defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

Though Buhari is yet to declare interest to seek re-election, Gojo-Gojo, who has now defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the quest by the PDP to reclaim the presidential and Katsina state’s governorship seats are misplaced hope.

Leadership reports that Gojo-Gojo spoke during the unveiling of the APC Consultative Forum, adding that the success of Masari administration, contrary to the propaganda of the PDP, had spelt doom for the opposition in the state.

According to him, the defection of the former leaders of the PDP in the state is a testimony that the opposition party is fighting a lost battle.

Members of the forum, according to the report, has former chairman of Batagarawa Local Government Area under PDP administration and the state commissioner for works and transport, Tasiu Dahiru Dandagoro, as secretary.

It further includes former commissioner during previous administration, Musa Adamu Funtua, and former local government boss under PDP, Tukur Iliyasu Shagumba, as vice chairman and treasurer respectively.

Former members of the PDP who are in the forum also include Comrade Bilyaminu Rimi, Abdullahi Tandama, Yusuf Barmo, Mohammed Ilalla and Ibrahim Teacher among others.

The state APC vice chairman in Funtau senatorial zone, Bala Abubakar Musawa, praised the Masari administration saying it cannot be compared to the 16 years of the PDP rule.

Shitu said he was confident that APC would take Katsina to greater heights just as he enjoined the party supporters to remain loyal and committed.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how a group which tags itself as the Concerned Candidates and Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (CCSP) has declared it has proscribed‎ the PDP Governors’ Forum.

The forum is an umbrella body for the 11 governors in Nigeria on the platform of the PDP with Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti as its chairman.
