NAIJ.com had earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari expressed sadness over the severe hardship suffered by citizens following the current fuel scarcity across the country.

The president in a TV broadcast which began by 7am on Monday, January 1, 2018, regretted that many Nigerians instead of showing love, companionship and charity during the festive period had to deal with the unnecessary fuel scarcity.

Buhari said the scarcity prevented many Nigerians from traveling during the period and that the the few who did had to pay exorbitant transport fares.

He said the current hardship caused by the scarcity was unacceptable given that NNPC had taken measures to ensure availability of petroleum products at all depots.

The president expressed his determination to get to the root of what he described as collective blackmail of all Nigerians.
