Senator Shehu Sani has faulted seven northern governors for endorsing the reelection bid of President Muhammadu Buhari amid the reported carnage in the country.

NAIJ.com had reported that Buhari, on Friday, January 12, met with seven governors from the northern region of the country behind closed-doors at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja just minutes after the Jumaat prayers.

The governors who were at the meeting include those of Kaduna, Yobe, Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Adamawa and Kano states.

Addressing State House reporters later, Kaduna state Governor Nasir El-rufai, said they had no apology meeting the president over the 2019 presidential election.

But reacting to the visit, Shehu Sani in a tweet on Saturday, January 13, faulted the governors for endorsing Buhari at a time when all hands should be on deck to advise or support the president on how to stop the mindless bloodletting.

Meanwhile, some political analysts have urged elected persons not to lose focus on governance as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released timetable for 2019 general elections.

NAIJ.com gathered that some of the analysts told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews in Abuja, on Friday, January 11, that it was wrong for politicians to pay less attention to governance whenever timetables for elections in the country were released.

An analyst, Malam Nasir Karu, said that though it would afford political parties enough time to prepare, “there could be negative implications’’.

According to him, politicians pay less attention to governance and focus more to schedule of activities for the elections whenever timetables are out.
