- Wives and girlfriends of Super Eagles stars will be allowed at the 2018 World Cup

- Head coach Gernot Rohr hopes the visits can help the players psychologically

- The German said he was influenced to let it happen because other teams do it also

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has said wives and girlfriends of the players can visit them in camp on some designated days during the World Cup in Russia.

Speaking at a press conference, Rohr said the players will be given days off with their WAGS and the coach said he hopes this would help the players remain focused.

He said: "After every game, players will be given a day when they can welcome their families, wives and girlfriends to camp, relax with them and socialise.

“It will help the players psychologically and keep them focused for the task at hand,” Rohr defended.

He said the decision to commence camping in Abuja was to allow players come home and see their families and loved ones.

“It will be good for the players to meet with their families after a long European season,” he said.

NFF President Amaju Pinnick agreed with the decision to allow WAGS socialize with the players.

He said: "Rohr has the final say on this matter. I know other teams do it also but the buck rests on the coach’s table and what he says is final."

Pinnick said the World Cup project was challenging but the football house was out to ensure all human errors that could hamper the team’s progress at the tournament were eliminated.

He added: “We are putting everything right – allowances, bonuses, backroom staff, et al.

"We want to make it and nothing would stop us.”

Nigeria have been drawn in Group D for the 2018 FIFA World Cup championship where they will meet Argentina, Croatia, and Iceland in Russia.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will start on June 14, and the final of the championship will be played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on July 15.
