- The visiting president was in a brief meeting with Buhari after which they later addressed a press conference.

President Muhammadu Buhari received the Equatorial Guinean president, Theodore Obiang in the president Villa on Tuesday January 23. The two presidents later addressed a press conference after the closed door meeting. The Equatorial Guinean president in the press conference expressed happiness to see Buhari back to good health.

NAIJ.com earlier reported how President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, March 14, 2017, in Malabo got conferred with the highest national honour of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

According to a statement by the special aide to the president, Femi Adesina, the honour was given for Buhari's personal integrity, exemplary leadership style and courage to fight terrorism in order to ensure peace and safety in Africa.

The honour of 'Gran Collar De La Orden De La Independencia' translated to mean 'Grand Collar of the Order of the Independence' was conferred on Buhari by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea at the presidential palace.

At the investiture ceremony, President Buhari said the recognition was for the people of Nigeria who had worked tirelessly to sustain peace in the country and across other neighbouring countries in Africa.
