NAIJ.com gathers that the spokesman was however unable to meet with Daura on Thursday, even after waiting from 12:30pm to 6pm, in company of his lawyer and others.
The DG had reportedly asked Afegbua and his team to wait for him, as he was at a meeting elsewhere.
After waiting for about 5 hours, Afegbua’s lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, stated that it was evident that the Daura would not return early, and that it was unfair to keep them waiting.
According to a security source, Afegbua was asked to return on Friday, after the operatives conferred among themselves.
The source reportedly stated: “The DG wanted to see the man (Afegbua) himself and that was why we kept him and his team waiting.
“We even cracked jokes with them. We told them that the DG wanted to see Afegbua himself and that was why they waited for long hours.
“But after waiting for some hours, his lawyer suggested that they wanted to leave and return on Friday for the meeting. That’s what happened. The DG may lead the team of the interrogators.”
Speaking on the development, the counsel Ajulo, stated that he and his client would return on Friday.
Ajulo further disclosed that he had been informed that it would be a friendly chat, after writing a letter to the agency, demanding to know why his client had been summoned.
He stated: “We waited for hours at their office. But it was apparent that the DG was not going to be around because he was said to be attending a security meeting elsewhere.
“This was why we suggested to them that we could return the visit on Friday and the operatives later conferred within themselves and agreed. That’s how we left the office."

Recall that NAIJ.com previously reported that Kassim Afegbua arrived at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) to honour an invitation over a statement he signed for his principal which was critical of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Afegbua arrived with eight lawyers. He had already filed a fundamental rights proceeding at the Abuja division of the Federal High Court.
It was learnt that the suit, which seeks up to N1 billion in defamation and harassment damages, was filed on Tuesday, February 6, a day after the police declared Afegbua wanted for allegedly issuing a false statement that could incite the public into violence.
