APC senator hails Catholic bishops for telling President Buhari the truth about affairs in the country

- Senator Shehu Sani says some visitors sing praises when they visit President Buhari

- The president finally speaks on herdsmen-farmers crisis

Senator Shehu Sani has hailed some Catholic bishops for telling President Muhammadu Buhari the true state of affairs in the country.

The lawmaker who represents Kaduna central at the National Assembly in a tweet on Friday, February 9, said while some visitors to the presidential villa sing praises when they visit Muhammadu Buhari, the clerics spoke the truth and the president humbly listened.

NAIJ.com had reported that President Buhari said the policy proposed by federal government in response to the frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country is not meant to colonise any part of the country.

Premium Times reports that while receiving Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) led by Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, on Thursday, February 8, in Abuja, President Buhari said the intention of government is to create grazing locations for cattle rearers, which has now been misconstrued as another form of colonisation.

Condemning recent spate of killings in Benue, Adamawa, Taraba, and Zamfara states, the president said security operatives would ensure prosecution of perpetrators and all those found with illegal arms in the affected areas.

Buhari told the Catholic bishops that he would not be tired of recounting remarkable progress recorded in the areas of security, economy and the fight against corruption.

On the fight against corruption, the president said the government would be guided by the law in the investigation and prosecution of all graft-related cases.

Meanwhile, three persons have been confirmed killed while many others are still missing following Thursday night, February 8, attack on Tsokwa village in Anyii, Logo local government area of Benue state by some armed men.

Channels reports that the chairman of Logo local government, Nyajo Richard, said on Friday morning, February 9, that the attackers suspected to be herdsmen stormed the village around 8:00 pm in large number shooting at different directions and burning down houses in the village, in the process.

NAIJ.com gathered that one of the villagers died at the scene of the attack while two victims who were rescued died in the process of reviving them.
