Arsenal manager Wenger names the best striker in Europe and it is not his new signing Aubameyang

- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Tottenham's Harry Kane is the best striker in Europe

- The Frenchman says his goal scoring form qualifies him for the tag

- But Wenger was quick to add that English players are now masters of diving

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has named Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as the best striker in Europe at the moment.

The 24-year-old forward netted his 22nd Premier League goal of the season in his side’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool over the weekend while increasing his goal tally for the season to 31 in 32 appearances in all competitions.

And the longest current serving EPL manager claims the number of goals the England international is churning out every season qualifies him for the tag.

"If you look at the numbers, no, because he has high numbers," Wenger said when asked if there was a better striker in Europe at the moment than Kane.

Ahead of their north London derby this weekend at the Wembley Stadium, the Frenchman is hoping his defenders can silence Kane, who has scored 6 goals in 7 games against the Gunners, while hoping that his attacking line up can replicate their form against Everton in the last game at the Emirates Stadium.

"I believe what you want in a game like that is to keep him quiet and for our strikers to express their talent."

Wenger further stated that Arsenal are hoping for a win in this game to ensure they move closer to the top four teams on the table in a bid to return to Champions League football next season.

"It's a big game because we are behind in the table and we have to catch up," added Wenger.

"It is more important for us to come back mathematically than it is emotionally-charged."

The former Monaco manager while talking about the diving incident in Spurs 2-2 draw against Liverpool last Sunday claims English players are now the ‘masters of diving’ having learnt well from foreign players in the past.

"I remember there were tremendous cases here when foreign players did it but I must say the English players have learned very quickly and they might even be the masters now."

Arsene Wenger joined Arsenal in 1996 from Nagoya Grampus Eight – leaving him as the current longest serving manager in the English topflight.

And having spent 22 years at the club, the 68-year old has in his title cabinet; three league trophies, seven FA Cups and seven Community Shields amongst many other individual awards which include ‘World Manager of the Year’ in 1998.

He led Arsenal to an unbeaten record in the 2003/04 season, which apparently was the last season the Gunners won the EPL title.
