Brazilian midfielder agrees to join top Premier League club

- Reports have it that Manchester City have verbally agreed to sign £50million-rated midfielder, Fred

- The Brazilian has been a long time admirer of Pep Guardiola's attacking style of play with City

- Fred's verbal agreement was made possible by former Arsenal player and agent, Gilberto Silva

Manchester City have a verbally agreed to sign £50million-rated Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred in the summer, according to reports.

The Brazilian midfielder who is represented by Arsenal’s former player Gilberto Silva has been on the radar of the Citizens for a number of months but have been unable to agree terms.

According to reports by Portuguese journalist Marcus Alves, a deal is in place for the £50million-rated Fred to make his Premier League move to Ethihad.

Further reports goes on to say that Gilberto took over from his previous agent, who is Ronaldinho's brother, and helped in negotiations with City last month.

Fred also reportedly said he wanted to play under Pep Guardiola and be part of the attacking style of play City, which have shot them to the top of the Premier League this term.

Fred arrived at the Donbass Arena as a replacement for City midfield enforcer Fernandinho under the tutelage of Mircea Lucescu in 2013 and the former Shakhtar boss claimed Fred was definitely going to sign for City in the summer.

.Lucescu said: "Shakhtar Donetsk's best player is Fred in the centre of midfield

"He was a bit anarchic on the left. I moved him in front of the defence.

"He will go to City like Fernandinho before him."

The Citizens have had a rich history with Brazilian playing at the Ethihad including; Elano, Robinho, Fernando, Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus and goalkeeper Ederson.
