2018 Lagos city marathon starts
6.30am..And here we go as the 2018 Lagos City Marathon has started.
- The 2018 edition of the Lagos City Marathon will start today, February 10
- 100,000 people are expected to take part of this event which will star in Suru Lere
- In the last edition, 50,000 participants took part in the Lagos City marathon
The City of Lagos is expected to be bubble on Saturday, February 10 as the third edition of the Access Bank Lagos City marathon will kick off at the National Stadium in Suru Lere.
In the last edition of the race held in the same City, 50,000 people took part in the marathon, but this time around, the organizers of the event have made it known that 100,000 participants will take part of this year's edition.
Kenyans seems to have dominated the past two editions of the Lagos City marathon as you will recall that Abraham Kipton won the inaugural edition and also the second edition where he went home with 50,000 dollars.
Athletes who qualify and participate in the 2018 edition are automatically recognized and eligible for the Commonwealth Games.
The prize money for indigent winners has however been increased to 3 Million Naira across all categories.
A 10km Family Fun Race for non-professional runners or elite athletes has been included to encourage participation from indigent Nigerians who run for fitness, fun and health purposes.
Winners of the 10km Family Fun Race will get brand new cars from GAC Motor.
