For attacking Governor Masari's nephew, Kastina youths charge at APC chairman

- The Katsina state chairman of the APC Shittu Shittu escaped being lynched by some youths in the state

- Shittu had said he hopes Bature Masari who recently decamped to APC did not come to deceive party members when youths charged at him

- The incident happened at the Katsina state Government House on Thursday, February 8

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina state, Shittu Shittu, escaped lynching by youths and supporters of Bature Masari who defected to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Vanguard reports that Masari had gone to the Katsina Government House on a solidarity visit to the governor when the incident happened.

He was said to have completed his remarks and solidarity to the governor when Shittu said: “I cannot say that I know you (Bature) very well. But I know you were in PDP and you campaigned against us when we were in the struggle.

"I hope you have not come here to deceive us and then go away," Shittu said.

In their protest, Masari's supporters who had accompanied him attempted to attack the chairman in the presence of the governor and other senior officials.

NAIJ.com gathered that it took the intervention of security opertaives in the Government House to rescue Shittu out of the Council Chambers.

Masari, a nephew to Governor Masari, was a two-term chairman of Kafur local government council.

He later became an interim administrator for the council before he was appointed the director general of SMEDAN during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that over 3,400 members of the APC were said to have defected to PDP in Rivers state.

PDP's spokesperson in the state, Samuel Nwanosike, made the revelation.

Nwanosike claimed that PDP will win all the 23 local government areas in the state come 2019.

He said Governor Wike's administration has brought hope, peace and development to the people of Rivers state.
