The Action Democratic Party (ADP) has faulted claims by a JAMB sales clerk, Philomina Chieshe that a mystery snake sneaked into the accounts office of JAMB in Makurdi, the Benue state capital and swallowed N36m.

The party in a statement issued by the ADP Lagos state publicity secretary, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, described the claims as a huge joke. It added that the missing money was further proof that government had become a looting business, Vanguard reports.

It said the news of the money swallowing snake was preposterous and further exposed to all Nigerians how corruption is thriving in government.

The party stated that since top officials have continually gone free whenever their corruption cases are exposed, officials in ministries, department and agencies in the government have become emboldened and devised means of stealing in millions.

Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Sunday, February 11, declared that it had suspended its employee, Philomina Chieshe based on the N36 million which was reported to have been swallowed by a snake in the board’s office in Makurdi, Benue state.

Punch reports that the JAMB head of information Fabian Benjamin said the board was taking her through other disciplinary measures while security agencies were investigating the matter.

A team of auditors were said to have been dispatched to different state offices of JAMB to take inventory of sold and unsold scratch cards and recover the generated money.

The woman reportedly told the team that she could not account for N36m made in the previous years before the abolition of scratch cards.
