I am Nigeria’s first born-again VP - Osinbajo reflects on ‘divine purpose’ in national assignment

- Prof Yemi Osinbajo has pointed out that he is possibly the nations’ first born-again vice president

- While noting the role of divine purpose in his national assignment, the VP stated that his role in the Bihari govt is to nudge it in the right direction

- Osinbajo called on Nigerians to join hands in prayer, for the country to be great

Professor Yemi Osinbajo has pointed out that there is a divine purpose to his national assignment, noting that he is possibly the first born-again Christian and pastor elected as Nigeria's vice president.

According to Daily Trust, the nation’s number two citizen made his comments at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Otun-Ekiti, Ekiti state, on Friday, February 9.

NAIJ.com gathers that the VP, who was attending the burial ceremony of Pa Daniel Olajide Adebiyi, stated that his role in the Buhari administration is to add to the integrity, do the right thing and push the government is the right way.

He stated: "I believe very strongly that there is a reason for my being elected as vice president, and possibly the first born-again Christian, the first pastor to have been elected as vice president.

“God is not the God of accident. He understands expertly what He wants to do. My role there is to add to the integrity, to do the right thing and make sure that we push our government in the right way."

Asking for prayers, Osinbajo continued: "This is a golden opportunity for us as Christians. When the two of us agree on anything, the Lord our God will bring it to pass.

“Agree with me that our country will be great and our country will be great."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo supported the calls for decentralisation of the Nigeria police.

At the opening ceremony for the two-day summit on national security on Thursday, February 8, organised by the Senate on the spate of killings by herdsmen and other crimes across the country, the vice president said:“State police is the way to go.”
