I cannot be intimidated - Andy Uba's former lawyer who accused him of certificate forgery warns

- A former consultant and investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Victor Uwajeh, has said he cannot be intimidated by Senator Andy Uba

- Uwajeh accused Senator Uba of using Anambra state machinery and the police to intimidate him

- He urged the senator to pay him his legal fee rather than intimidating him

A former consultant and investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Victor Uwajeh, has said he cannot be intimidated by the senator representing Anambra South constituency, Andy Uba.

Uwajeh said no amount of intimidation will stop him from claiming his legal fee after working for the senator.

The investigator also accused Uba of using Anambra state machinery and the police to intimidate him.

He said he wondered why a serving senator of the Federal Republic will make attempts to use the police to silence justice.

Uwajeh who was reacting to recent charges against him at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, said Uba should pay him rather than harassing him.

The court charges served on Uwajeh has mandated him to appear before the Federal High Court on Tuesday, February 13, to take his plea on charges bordering on forgery, impersonation and fraud.

Uwajeh said: "No amount of intimidation by Senator Andy Uba using the police and state machinery will stop me from legally claiming my professional fee from him.

"He should pay me my fee rather than getting the police to harass me through trumped up court charges".

Uwajeh had initiated a suit against Senator Andy Uba (APC, Anambra) over allegations of refusal to pay a debt of £1.9 million.

Also Uwajeh’s counsel, Barrister Anthony Agbonlahor, had told an FCT High Court sitting in Apo that Uba engaged his client’s services for an assignment in United Kingdom Border Agency and in the United States of America (US) pursuant to his two power of attorneys dated December 28, 2012 and January 5, 2013 and refused to pay his professional fees.

He said his client travelled to America several times and engaged the services of a lawyer who was mandated to attend every court session in the US to dispose off a warrant of arrest and eventually settle the case which was instituted by the US government against Uba.

The lawmaker was also accused of forging his West African Examination Council Certificate (WAEC) results as well as his Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and several other academic credentials.

The court however advised them to settle the matter out of court but instead of exploring the option, Uba was said to have resorted to using the police to intimidate Uwajeh.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that Senator Uba had petitioned the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, over alleged attempts to his life.

The senator representing Anambra South senatorial district accused a man he named as Victor Uwajeh for alleged attempts to blackmail and extort money from him.

He urges IGP Idris to treat his petition “with characteristic urgency and meticulousness”.
