Premier League campaigners Liverpool are reportedly interested in the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi who currently plays for Leicester City.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp wants to bolster his squad for the next Premier League season and he is said to have identified the 21-year-old Nigerian as his target.

In January 2017, Wilfred Ndidi completed a move to Leicester City from Genk as the club signed him as a replacement for Frenchman N'Golo Kante who moved to Chelsea.

Liverpool have a number of players capable of playing in central midfield but have no one who could be defined as an out-right defensive midfielder.

Ndidi could potentially partner Naby Keita who will arrive from RB Leipzig in the summer in a new-look Liverpool midfield and together they could provide a level of energy and tenacity not seen since the days of Javier Mascherano and Steven Gerrard.

His performance for the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup will also be put into consideration by Liverpool chiefs.

Ndidi and his Super Eagles teammates are in Group D for the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they will face Argentina, Croatia and Iceland.

Meanwhile, Liverpool currently occupy third position on the Premier League standings with 51 points from 26 games, while Leicester City occupy 8th position with 35 points from 26 games.
