Manchester City are already looking like runaway winners in this season's Premier League as the Etihad club recorded an emphatic 5-1 victory against Leicester City to move 16 points clear in the league.

Pep Guardiola's men came into the game in high spirit despite a 1-1 draw last weekend against Burnley at Turf Moor.

And with just 3 minutes on the clock, Raheem Sterling opened the scoring for the Citizens after a wonderful assist from Kevin De Bruyne.

However, Leicester City equalized in the 24 minutes as in-form striker Jamie Vardy capitalized on a defensive error at the back, dribbled his way past three Man City defenders, before slotting past Ederson in goal for City.

With the goal, Vardy became the first player to score against each of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United, and Spurs in the same Premier League season. The first half ended 1-1 with City creating most of the chances.

At the start of the second half, it took City just 3 minutes again to take the lead as Sergio Aguero finished a beauty of a ball in from De Bruyne.

Five minutes later, it was 3-1 and again it was that man Aguero on target as he netted from close range after being played through again by De Bruyne. The Belgian was having the game of his night as he registered a hat-trick of assists in a single game for the first time ever in his career.

Leicester City manager Claude Puel responded by bringing in Mahrez and Iheanacho after the goals but the duo could do barely nothing as City were firing from all cylinders.

In the 77th minute, Sergio Aguero got his hat-trick as he capitalized on a terrible Schmeichel error to register City's fourth goal on the night.

There was still time for one more goal as Sergio Aguero scored his fourth goal on the night with a powerful shot in the 90th minute which hit the underside of the bar before going in. The Citizens ran away with a convincing 5-1 victory.

The victory takes them to 72 points after 27 games, 16 points ahead of Manchester United in second place who have 56 points with a game in hand.
