- The Nigerian police public relations officer, Moshood Jimoh, is still under fire for his recent comments
- Jimoh had referred to Governor Samuel Ortom as 'a drowning man' in a recent interview
- The zonal youths forum of the ruling All Progressive Congress has demanded for his immediate sack
The north-central zonal youths forum of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has demanded an immediate sack of Nigerian police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, for calling Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom "a drowning man."
The forum also demanded that the police spokesman be made to tender a public apology to the governor within the next seven days.
In a statement signed by its leader, Comrade Terver Aginde, on Thursday, February 8, in Abuja, the group also demanded for the total re-organisation of security agencies in the country.

While calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to wake up and fulfil the promises he made during the 2015 general elections, the zonal youth leader, said: “The youths of North-central would be pushed to the wall if the killings in the North-central states is not stopped. No individual has monopoly of violence.
“President Buhari should wake up and do what he promised Nigerians that he was going to do for Nigerians when he was campaigning for our votes."
On why the police spokesman should be sacked, Aginde said: “We cannot believe that under President Buhari's government, an unprofessional officer like the PPRO and the IGP will be disgracing and tarnishing the image of the government.
“On behalf of the youths of the North-central states of Nigeria, we demand that the PPRO should be sacked and asked to apologize to the governor of Benue state, for calling him a drowning man within seven days.
“The governor of Benue state swore to protect lives and property when he was taking oath of office, likewise the president, why play sentiments and politics with the herdsmen crises?
“We don't want to believe that the IGP and his co-conspirators are not making fortunes out of the crises just like what happened during the Boko Haram insurgency under President Jonathan. We say no to cattle colony in the North-central.”
Meanwhile, a group, #IstandWithOrtom, has told the police public relations officer, Force Headquarters, Jimoh Moshood, to apologise to Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom for describing him as a “drowning man”.
NAIJ.com gathered that the demand is coming at the heels of calls by the Benue state government that it has lost confidence in the ability of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to carry out his functions without bias.

The group noted that the context in which the police spokesman described the governor as a drowning man was an indication that the governor was not a man to be taken seriously.
