The faction, known to be Kaduna Restoration Group, is led by Suleiman Hukunyi, the senator representing Kaduna north central. An aide of Hukunyi simply identified as Abdulraham told newsmen that soldiers blocked the two entrances of the building as the destruction was done.

Abdulraham said: “The bulldozer was accompanied by armed soldiers who blocked both sides of the road leading to the building.”

Some supporters of Hunkuyi have accused el-Rufai of being responsible for the act, but the governor has not reacted to the allegation.

However, an unnamed senior government official claimed that the demolition was carried out by the Kaduna state Urban and Property Development Agency (KASUPDA). He said the property was meant for residential purposes and not for political endeavour.

The crisis is coming at a time when President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Bola Tinubu, national leader of the party, to reconcile angry individuals in the APC.

In his response on Sunday, February 19, Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna central, said the ruling party will be in serious trouble if Tinubu’s mission fails.

Earlier, NAIJ.com reported that the faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state which issued a query to Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday, February 15, had suspended the governor for six months.

This was due to the fear expressed by party stakeholders that the presidential reconciliation committee led by the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, may fail in Kaduna state, if El-Rufai refused to admit his faults.
