Arsenal are reportedly planning to raid Atletico Madrid for the signature of goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer.

The Gunners will need an experienced shotstopper to take over from 35-years-old Petr Cech, who has conceded more goals in these last few seasons than in his entire career.

Meanwhile, the Premier League campaigners are expected to trigger his £88 million release clause to stand a chance of luring the Slovenian away from the Wanda Metropolitano this summer.

However, the Express claim that the north Londoners might have to deal with their domestic competition from Chelsea, who have also shown interest since the future of Thibaut Courtois is in doubt at the Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian became the Blues number 1 when he returned from his loan spell in Spain, but he is a top target for Real Madrid and has failed to extend his contract with the Blues.

The 24-year-old has had an impressive season in the EPL but life with Merseyside has been very tough, as Ronald Koeman was replaced in October by former England coach, Sam Allardyce, and he has been criticised for a series of uninspiring displays.

Pickford’s stock could rise ever higher if he impresses for England at the World Cup in Russia.

Gareth Southgate also has Joe Hart, Jack Butland and Nick Pope at this disposal.

However, Pickford impressed in the Three Lions’ 1-0 friendly win over Holland on Friday and is expected to be handed the No.1 jersey for the tournament.
