The speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Wednesday, March 21, commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the release of the abducted Dapchi school girls in Yobe.
He said the president’s efforts to ensure that the girls were freed from captivity had yielded results, with the hope of ending insurgency in the northeast.

Dogara, however, called for proactive steps to forestall recurrence of the incident by security agencies. He added that “we must remind all those concerned that mass abduction of innocent schoolgirls should never have been allowed to happen in the first place.
"While we await the outcome of the investigation by the House Ad hoc Committee, the House of Representatives will not accept any further excuses or buck passing between the various security agencies."
The speaker said intelligence gathering must be strengthened to prevent attacks before they occur. He commiserated with the released girls, their parents and families for the ordeal they went through.
Dogara gave assurances of the House of Representatives’ readiness to continue to promote the security of lives and property of Nigerians working in concert with the executive. He added that efforts should be intensified to free the remaining Dapchi and Chibok schoolgirls and indeed all those in captivity

NAIJ.com had reported that in the early hours of Wednesday, March 21, Boko Haram reportedly returned 101 out of the kidnapped 110 #DapchiGirls girls back to Dapchi township in Yobe state according to the presidency.
The schoolgirls were kidnapped from Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi On February 19, 2018 at about 5:30pm local time.
The released schoolgirls have been profiled and taken to Maiduguri for onward movement to Abuja. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that 103 girls were brought back to Dapchi while one was held back. The surviving girls said five of their school mates died the very day they were abducted.
Meanwhile, Nata Sharibu, father of the remaining student still in captivity said his daughter refused to denounce God; and so, the terrorists decided not to release her.
NAIJ.com gathers that apart from the five schoolgirls who reportedly lost their lives, Sharibu’s daughter, Liya, was not among those returned.
