Leader of the 'Our Mumu Don Do' movement, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy, has berated the Nigeria Police Force for continuously laying siege on the premises of the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) headquarters in Abuja, after several court judgements.
Charly Boy who openly shed tears due to the high handedness of the policemen, made the comment came on Thursday, March 8, after he and members of the PCN were prevented from taking possession of their office.
The office has been under siege by police personnel since February 28, 2017, the day the premises was officially commissioned.
Despite different court orders given at Federal High Court, Abuja with the attendant letter from the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Ibrahim Malami, that the police should obey the two subsisting court orders, the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, has ignored the orders.

The House of Representatives had also waded into the matter through its committee on public petitions, as it urged the police to comply with court orders and the advice of the AGF on Tuesday, March 6.
NAIJ.com gathered that the officers of PCN under the leadership of the national commandant, Dr Dickson Akoh, were ushered by some officials of Civil Society Organisations, to take possession of their office. They were however, resisted by a detachment of well armed mobile police officers from the FCT police command.
Reacting to the conduct of the police, Charly Boy described their action as "act of injustice," vowing to stand firm against it. His words: “This is our country, we would have no place to call our own or go to, if we allow our system to erode. We won't alow the IGP or anyone to give the youths reasons to resorting to self help or anarchy.”

The civil society coalition led by Comrade Olayemi Success, said it was very ironical that, “the same police which was supposed to be enforcing the law could not obey court orders, the AGF and the order of Nigerian parliament.”
He lambasted the force for embarrassing Nigeria before the international community, which caused the recent rating of “Nigeria police being the worst in the whole world.”
On his part, the Peace Corps Boss, Akoh, said, as peaceful people and law abiding organisation, his men would retire home while waiting for the response of the IGP. Akoh said the office was rented for 3 years with N13.8m annual rent, adding that, the police had already vandalised the premises and looted some valuables.

Meanwhile, the council of commandants and Board of Trustees of the Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) have called on President Buhari to reevaluate and reconsider his decision to withhold his assent to the Peace Corps bill.
They made the call at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, March 2, arguing that there was no security agency in Nigeria that was currently undertaking the functions ascribe to Peace Corps in the said bill.
Speaking on behalf of the organisation, the national commandant, Dr Dickson Akoh said the bill does not conflict with that of the functions of any existing security agency in the country.
