The Nigerian Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions has screened President Muhammadu Buhari’s two nominees for the position of Deputy Governor and four members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The upper chamber disclosed this in a tweet, Monday, March 19. The nominees for the deputy CBN governor are Aisha Ahmad and Edward Adamu.
The four other nominees that were also screened as members of the MPC are Prof Festus Adeola Adenikinju, Dr. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi, Dr. Robert Chikwendu Asogwa and Dr. Asheikh Maidugu.

NAIJ.com previously reported that the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, March 13, approved that the nominees for the positions of deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and members of the Monetary Policy Committee be screened for confirmation.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, directed the Senate committee on banking and finance, to begin the process of screening the two nominees for deputy governor of the CBN.

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim raised the point of order on the floor of the upper chamber, saying the Senate should consider the screening of two deputy governors as members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to enable the monetary policy committee continue to direct the affairs of the apex bank.
