Former Barcelona and PSG star joins politics, ready for election in national polls

- Ronaldinho has joined PRB republican party in Brazil

- The ex Barcelona star is now eyeing another career in politics

- He will stand for election in national polls this year

After retiring from football, former AC Milan and Barcelona star Ronaldinho has decided to try a career in politics.

The 38-year-old who was known for his superb dribbling skills has even joined the PRB republican party in his native Brazil.

Ronaldinho will now stand for election in national polls later this year according to the report by UK Sun.

He has played for Brazilian clubs Flamengo, Atletico Mineiro and Fluminense, plus Mexican outfit Queretaro, since leaving Milan in 2011.

Ronaldinho was presented at a ceremony in capital Brasilia on Tuesday by PRB chief Eduardo Lopes who reminded him of one of his superb goals at the World Cup.

"I can't look at Ronaldinho without remembering that goal he scored against England at the 2002 World Cup.

It was a unique opportunity, our last chance in the game, and the guy came up with a goal like that." Lopes explained.

Ronaldinho won 97 Brazil caps, scoring 33 goals. He won the 2006 Champions League with Barcelona, and has also collected La Liga and Serie A titles.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Barcelona and Brazil legend Ronaldinho retired from football as confirmed by his brother Roberto Assis who doubles as his agent.

In July 2017, Ronaldinho said on the sidelines of a friendly in Chechnya that was he was too old to return to action.
