Former President of the United States of America Barack Obama has expressed his desire to go into sports and the 56-year-old will love to play for San Antonio Spurs.

San Antonio Spurs is an American professional basketball team based in San Antonio, Texas, and they compete in the National Basketball Association as a member of the League's Western Conference Southwest Division.

The 44th United States President declared his interest for basketball while attending the MIT Sports Analytics Conference, and explained that Spurs is a team he would take a free-agent meeting with because they encompass everything he is looking for.

"They're smart, they're well-run, they're focused on team.

"Spurs treat everybody in the organization with respect, and that is the kind of organization that I want to be a part of. So I would say over the last 15 years in basketball, San Antonio would be a great example of that." Obama was quoted to have said via Sarah Martinez of the San Antonio Current.

While responding to Obama's interest to play for San Antonio Spurs, head coach of the team Gregg Popovich had an appropriately cheeky response.

''That is very flattering, but I will have to do a background check on him though, because I've heard some things he's done in the past aren't very good. I can't remember where I heard that stuff, but I'd have to do a background check." he said.

San Antonio Spurs have been one of the model franchises in sports for two decades as they have won at least 50 games in each of the past 18 seasons which is the longest streak in NBA history, and have captured five NBA titles since the 1998-99 season.

Barack Obama served as the 44th United States President between the year 2009-2017.
