Residents of Tukuntawa in Kumbotso local government area, Kano state have suffered a shocking incident in the early hours of Friday, March 16, after a frustrated businessman threatened to take his own life.
The businessman identified as Malam Ismaila Abdullahi Shabege had reportedly climbed a radio transmission mast belonging to Kano Broadcasting Corporation to take his own life.
According to eyewitness account, Shabege had threatened to take his own life of Governor Abdulhaziz Yari of Zamfara state doesn’t step down as Nigeria Governors’ Forum chairman.

Shabege had reportedly claimed that the governor had promised to support his trade of tricycle and failed to do so. According to Daily Trust, the businessman had made the claims in a note he left behind.
He said “I was the leader Zamfara state singers forum in 2011 when Yari was bidding for governorship of the state and when we won the election I had free access to the governor at anytime I want to see him, the opportunity I used to present to him my God given talent of fabrication of tricycles.
The governor was very impressed with my talent, seeing how it could be harnessed to address the issue of unemployment among youth and thus promised to support the innovation.
“He further promised to take me to President Muhammadu Buhari for presidential support, this spurred me to improve and modified the machine in various shapes and sizes, but to my greatest amazement, when I took some of the tricycles to the governor to confirm to him what I told him he denied me, that made me frustrated given the money and everything I spent in the project.”
An eyewitness identified as Musa Usman revealed that the man had arrived at the scene around 6:00am behaving abnormally before he climbed the pinnacle of the mast.
It was gathered that the fire service personnel in Kano state in collaboration with the police were able to talk him into coming down from the mast around 11:45am.

Kano state fire service spokesman Sa’idu Muhammad Ibrahim disclosed that the command received a distress call from one Lawal Isah Bagwai at 9:30am
