The minister of mines and steel development, Kayode Fayemi, has condemned the vote of no confidence passed on him by members of the House of Representatives.
NAIJ.com had reported that the House of Representatives on Thursday, March 1, unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on former governor of Ekiti state and minister of solid minerals development, Kayode Fayemi.

The representatives made their decision after the minister failed to show up for the sectoral debate on the revival of moribund Ajaokuta steel company.
Reacting to the vote of no confidence passed on him, the minister in statement by his aide Olayinka Oyebode, described the action of the lawmakers as unwarranted and unfortunate, Channels TV reports
“It is rather unfair for the House members to categorise the ministers’ absence as ‘boycott’, when they were adequately notified. Tolerance and moderation are essential ingredients in public service engagement.

“In this particular case, they appear to be in short supply and the ministry believes that there is more than meets the eye on this matter. After all, the Ministers are always willing to engage the Honourable House and its leadership at all times,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the presidency has said that there is no directive from President Muhammadu Buhari stopping heads of agencies or ministers from attending any legislative engagement, NAN reports.
Abdulrahman Kawu, the special assistant to the president on National Assembly matters, House of Representatives, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, March 1.
NAIJ.com gathers that Kawu was reacting to the vote of no confidence passed on the two ministers who shunned the legislative invitation at plenary on Thursday during the sectoral debate.
According to him, the president recognises the constitutionality of separation of powers, and respects the National Assembly.
