- The party accused the governor of plotting violence in the coming election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, March 9, has lambasted the Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, after security operatives intercepted military wares allegedly imported illegally into the country by the governor.

The opposition party said the imported military wares would not stop the party form defeating Governor Bello in the 2019 election.

Tribune reports that a statement by the director research and documentation of the party, Dickson Achadu, accused the governor of attempting to use violence after losing popularity in the state.

The party said: "With defeat staring the present administration on the face, we expect more act of desperation from the sinking government, but described its action to import military ware as the lowest moment it has attained.

"The PDP also want security agencies to unravel the motives behind the arms importation in a country where fighting insurgency and other crimes have become a source of worry, the recent interception may well help unravel more motives than the eye can see."

Recall that NAIJ.com earlier reported that Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district in the National Assembly, has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of importing security gadgets without approval from the National Security Adviser (NSA), as demanded by the law.

Melaye, who made the accusation at the Senate’s plenary on Thursday, March 8, said he had enough proof to show that the items were imported unknowing to the NSA.

He explained that the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), intercepted the items which were in the custody of Nigeria Aviation Handling Company of Nigeria (NAHCO).
